Best Time of Year

Spring is the best time of year
When all things dormant
Rise up and cheer
Sunshine! Rain!
Is what we need
In order for us
To succeed.

Tulips, daffodils
They rise up tall
Their  colors magical
One and all.
Then shrubs and trees
Their blooms appear.
Spring!
The best time of the year!

Poem by Ann Mellish

The above poem is on the back cover of the magazine BIRDS & BLOOMS. This magazine will be available in the CherryWood library.

The Book of Gifts

This book has just been received from a friend in Arizona. She put the book together from prayers, poems, and personal accounts of women in her church group. Here are a couple of 'gifts':

Life is like a journey taken on a train, with a pair of

passengers at each window pane.

I may sit beside you all the journey through, or - I may sit

elsewhere never knowing you.

But if fate should make me sit by your side,

Let's be pleasant passengers.

It's so short a ride.

Shirley Slotvig

And a favorite prayer of Joe & Judy Bricher—

Grant me o Lord  my God, a mind to know you,

a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you,

conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in

waiting for you and a hope of finally embracing you.

St. Thomas Aquinas

Mary and I are donating the book to the Cherrywood Library. I urge you to

visit the library

and read more 'gifts.'

Sunday night dinner

The manicotti was good tonight. It seems that Sunday night dinner is usually kinda bland.
